Frequently Asked Questions
I feel nervous asking for help. Is this normal?Yes. It can sometimes be frightening asking for help, especially from a stranger (even when that person is professionally trained and qualified to help), so it is perhaps reassuring to recognise that the counsellor has also been in the same position, has also had counselling as part of their training and understands what it is like.
How much does it cost?
Knowing how much you are going to pay is important, however perhaps more important is the person you are going to be doing this kind of work with and that you feel comfortable with them. Therefore, I offer an initial session for you to take a look at me and where we can talk about the cost of sessions within the context of your personal situation and your ability to pay.
How long do sessions last?
60 minutes.
How often do I need to come?
Weekly is often enough. The regularity of once a week sessions provides you with reliability which you may not have experienced before in your life. Usually people commit to the same time on the same day each week.
How long do I need to come for?
It depends on what you are coming to see me for. I offer short or long-term counselling. Some specific difficulties may be resolved relatively quickly, whereas others may take more time. Some people also choose to continue with counselling after the initial difficulty has been resolved viewing it as a valuable addition to their lives.
What do I do if I want to start?
The best thing to do is call or e-mail me for a one-off appointment with no obligation where we can discuss your specific needs and requirements. This gives you the opportunity to see whether I can be of service to you.
